November 4 — National Unity Day. A story that began on our land.

On November 4, Russia celebrates National Unity Day — a holiday that serves as a reminder of the power of solidarity, responsibility, and love for one’s Fatherland.

More than four centuries ago, during the "Time of Troubles"—a period of great hardship for the country—the Nizhny Novgorod region emerged as a focal point for a popular movement that united the people to save the state.

In the autumn of 1611, Kuzma Minin, a zemsky starosta (local civic leader) from Nizhny Novgorod, called upon his fellow citizens to form a popular militia to defend the nation. His initiative was supported by Prince Dmitry Pozharsky, who was entrusted with military command. In 1612, this militia liberated Moscow from Polish-Lithuanian invaders, becoming an enduring symbol of the people’s unity and strength in the face of a common threat.

The history of our own region is also linked to these events.

According to one historical account, the town of Balakhna—located near the Zavolzhye region—is considered the birthplace of Kuzma Minin. Furthermore, in Nizhny Novgorod, near the Ivanovskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, lies a site traditionally associated with Minin’s famous appeal to his fellow countrymen.

This is where the journey of the militia began—a force destined to play a decisive role in the nation’s fate.

In a sense, we are working right alongside the very places where one of the most significant chapters in Russian history first unfolded.

History Lives On Through Today’s Endeavors

To this day, the Nizhny Novgorod region remains a land defined by hard work, creation, and a strong industrial heritage.

In the town of Zavolzhye, the "Zavod Vezdekhodnykh Mashin" (All-Terrain Vehicle Plant) — a Russian enterprise — develops and manufactures specialized off-road and amphibious vehicles designed for the most demanding operating conditions.

We build machines capable of conquering rugged, pathless terrain—operating far beyond where conventional roads end—and helping people tackle critical industrial and logistical challenges.

For us, this is more than just business or corporate growth; it is a contribution to the domestic engineering sector, the nation’s industrial potential, and the future of the region where we live and work.

History reminds us that great undertakings begin with people who know how to unite for a common goal—a truth that remains as relevant today as it was four centuries ago.

Happy National Unity Day!

We wish all our fellow citizens a wonderful November 4th!

We wish our country peace and prosperity, and we wish each of you confidence in the future, well-being, and the strength and opportunity to create. May a shared respect for our history, mutual support, and a collective sense of responsibility for the future continue to unite us all!
